Job summary

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, seeks a Staff Accountant to support cost data accuracy and financial reporting for Warren, OH and Wheatland, PA facilities. Hybrid role with four in-office days and one remote day. You’ll collaborate with senior finance leaders to ensure compliance and drive operational efficiency.

The role emphasizes manufacturing costing, FIFO audits, and variance analysis, with opportunities to impact financial decision-making and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Strong analytical and math skills.
• Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC software with strong Excel skills; SAP experience a plus.
• Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
• Detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Regular, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist the accounting team with month end close.
• Provide management with detailed cost data by extracting and analyzing production information.
• Review daily shift reports and work order confirmations to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure FIFO inventory costs are accurate by performing audits, investigations, and overhead calculations.
• Participate in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual production and variance reporting.
• Assist auditors during annual physical inventory counts and provide requested information.
• Post daily treasury management entries, tracking AP cash disbursements and payroll bank accounts.
• Assist with payroll general ledger postings by reviewing data from Workday.
• Support intercompany accounting for cross-charges.
• Provide information for bank and collateral audits.
• Complete special projects as assigned.

About the Role

As a Staff Accountant at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting for our Warren, OH and Wheatland, PA facilities. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in accounting principles, providing the opportunity to contribute directly to operational efficiency and sound financial decision‑making. You will collaborate with the Director of Accounting, the Pipe Finance Manager, and cross‑functional teams to ensure the accuracy of cost data, support variance analysis, and maintain compliance with accounting standards. This is a hybrid role with four in‑office days (three in Warren, OH and one in Wheatland, PA) and one remote day. This role is perfect for someone who is detail‑oriented, thrives in a collaborative environment, and enjoys applying accounting knowledge to manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do
