Job summary

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is hiring a Staff Accountant for a hybrid role serving Warren, OH and Wheatland, PA facilities. You will support month-end close, analyze production costs, and ensure accurate inventory costing and governance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 1–2 years of manufacturing accounting experience, and strong Excel and SAP skills. Regular onsite attendance is expected with some remote work.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in accounting, finance or related field.
• Strong grounding in GAAP and internal controls.
• Analytical mindset with ability to analyze cost data.

Responsibilities

• Assist month-end close and close reports.
• Provide detailed cost data from production information for management.
• Review daily shift reports and work orders for accuracy.
• Ensure FIFO inventory costing accuracy through audits and calculations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual production and variance analyses.
• Support auditors during physical inventories and provide information.
• Post treasury entries and monitor AP cash disbursements and payroll accounts.
• Assist with payroll GL postings using Workday data.
• Support intercompany cross-charges and bank audits.
• Contribute to special projects as needed.

About the Role

As a Staff Accountant at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting for our Warren, OH and Wheatland, PA facilities. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in accounting principles, providing the opportunity to contribute directly to operational efficiency and sound financial decision‑making. You will collaborate with the Director of Accounting, the Pipe Finance Manager, and cross‑functional teams to ensure the accuracy of cost data, support variance analysis, and maintain compliance with accounting standards. This is a hybrid role with four in‑office days (three in Warren, OH and one in Wheatland, PA) and one remote day. This role is perfect for someone who is detail‑oriented, thrives in a collaborative environment, and enjoys applying accounting knowledge to manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the accounting team with month end close
• Provides management with detailed cost data by extracting and analyzing production information.
• Reviews daily shift reports and work order confirmations to ensure accuracy.
• Ensures FIFO inventory costs are accurate by performing audits, investigations, and overhead calculations.
• Participates in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual production and variance reporting.
• Assists auditors during annual physical inventory counts and provides requested information.
• Posts daily treasury management entries, tracking AP cash disbursements and payroll bank accounts.
• Assists with payroll general ledger postings by reviewing data from Workday.
• Supports intercompany accounting for cross‑charges.
• Provides information for bank and collateral audits.
• Completes special projects as assigned.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong analytical and math skills.
• Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC software with strong Excel skills; SAP experience a plus.
• Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
• Detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Regular, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
