Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting and finance functions in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. The role involves detailed account analysis, monthly closings, payroll processing, and ACA reporting within a professional office setting.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance and 3+ years of related experience; nonprofit or manufacturing exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years relevant education or experience in accounting or financial analysis required; demonstrated within a non-profit or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; specialization in accounting, finance, supply chain management, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of assigned financial accounts.
  • Maintain financial schedules and record journal entries as required.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with investment and fixed asset management procedures.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparing financial reports.
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and ACA reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and quarterly reporting requirements for federal and state agencies.

Job description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting, budgetary, and other financially-related tasks as required by the Head of Accounting and Finance. This position requires participation in ongoing analysis and forecasting of financial data and periodic reporting. This individual must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of assigned financial accounts.Maintain financial schedules and record journal entries as required.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.Assist with investment and fixed asset management procedures.Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparing financial reports.Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and ACA reporting.Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and quarterly reporting requirements for federal and state agencies.Assist with maintaining customer and vendor files to ensure compliance with internal policies.Assist with preparing financial data for grant applications and tracking restricted monies.Assist with the annual external audit and tax report filings.Keep financial information confidential.Assist with data migration and new systems implementation when necessary.Be familiar with other job duties within the accounting department (A/R, A/P, etc.)Attend conferences, in-service trainings, and other functions, as required or assigned.Other financial tasks and projects as required by the Head of Accounting and Finance.KnowledgeAbility to work independently (with minimal supervision) to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Excellent technical, oral, and written communication skills.
