Job summary

Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth seeks a Staff Accountant to perform accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting tasks in a professional office environment. You will support the Head of Accounting and Finance in a deadline-driven nonprofit setting.

Responsibilities include month-end close, payroll processing, ACA reporting, grant data, audits, and compliance, while handling confidential information and system migrations as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; specialization in accounting/finance preferred.
  • Experience with nonprofit or manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; capable of independent work.

# Staff Accountant## OverviewSalary Range$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 Salary/yearPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayCategoryAccounting## DescriptionThe Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting, budgetary, and other financially-related tasks as required by the Head of Accounting and Finance. This position requires participation in ongoing analysis and forecasting of financial data and periodic reporting. This individual must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.**Primary Duties and Responsibilities*** Perform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of assigned financial accounts.* Maintain financial schedules and record journal entries as required.* Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.* Assist with investment and fixed asset management procedures.* Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparing financial reports.* Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and ACA reporting.* Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and quarterly reporting requirements for federal and state agencies.* Assist with maintaining customer and vendor files to ensure compliance with internal policies.* Assist with preparing financial data for grant applications and tracking restricted monies.* Assist with the annual external audit and tax report filings.* Keep financial information confidential.* Assist with data migration and new systems implementation when necessary.* Be familiar with other job duties within the accounting department (A/R, A/P, etc.)* Attend conferences, in-service trainings, and other functions, as required or assigned.* Other financial tasks and projects as required by the Head of Accounting and Finance.## Qualifications**Knowledge*** Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision) to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.* Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.* Excellent technical, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to speak and write in English.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.* Comfortable with technology systems and willing to be flexible and learn new systems.* Ability to deal pleasantly and courteously with management, customers, vendors, and co-workers by telephone, written correspondence, and in person.**Education and/or Experience*** 3+ years relevant education or experience in accounting or financial analysis required; demonstrated within a non-profit or manufacturing environment preferred* Bachelor’s Degree required; specialization in accounting, finance, supply chain management, or related field preferred* Experience with current systems preferred (Microsoft Dynamics GP, Paycom, Little Green Light)**Work Environment*** Climate-controlled office environment* Professional office environment* Occasional exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of automated equipment is in use* Moderate noise level**Physical Requirements*** Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.* Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.* Viewing of computer monitor and repetitive motion on the keyboard and calculator.* Able to travel as needed.**Travel/Transportation**Team members must have reliable transportation to and from the Lighthouse within the required open and close times.**Pay Rate**Commensurate with market and job level or experience**Employment Classification**Full-time, salaried, non-exempt**Office Hours**7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.Occasional Fridays and weekends as needed.
