Job summary

Mattco Roofing + Construction is seeking a sharp accountant to keep the books tight and the numbers clear for a nationwide commercial roofing and construction business.

The role centers on full-cycle bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online, ADP payroll processing, and strict adherence to GAAP. In-office presence is required, Monday through Friday, with opportunities to contribute to project accounting, WIP reporting, and month-end closes.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping in multi-entity or construction services environment.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online (accrual, class tracking, job costing, intercompany posting).
• Experience processing payroll through ADP.
• Solid understanding of GAAP accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
• Construction accounting experience is a plus.
• In-office presence is required (Mon-Fri).

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily bank feeds and deposits; reconcile credit card transactions via Concur; assist with accounts payable and receivable.
• Support Financial Controller with month-end activities including reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll journal entries, and revenue adjustments.
• Track and remit sales tax; work with project managers on WIP reporting; report key metrics.
• Provide weekly work summaries to ownership; maintain workpaper documentation; participate in leadership meetings to review financial status.
• Process contractor and employee payroll through ADP on a weekly/bi-weekly basis; post payroll journal entries; manage W-2/1099 payroll entries; ensure benefits documentation is updated.
• Maintain vendor and customer data; support vendor 1099 filings; report to Financial Controller.

Requirements

• 2+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in a multi-entity or construction/commercial services environment
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online: accrual-basis, class tracking, job costing, and intercompany ("due to/from") posting required
• Experience processing payroll through ADP
• Solid understanding of GAAP accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and revenue recognition
• Construction accounting experience is a plus
• In-office presence is required (Monday to Friday)

Key Roles

Transactional Accounting

Maintain daily bank feeds and deposits, reconcile credit card transactions via Concur, and assist with accounts payable and receivable.

Provide direct support to the Financial Controller, including month-end activities (account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed asset entries, payroll journal entries, and revenue recognition adjustments). Additional support includes tracking and remitting sales tax, working with project managers on project Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, tracking and reporting key metrics, and other support as assigned.

Reporting & Communication

Provide weekly work summaries to ownership, maintain workpaper documentation, and support regular meetings with leadership to review financial status.

Payroll & Human Resources Support

Process contractor and employee payroll through ADP on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. Process W-2 and 1099 contractor payroll through ADP, post payroll journal entries, and manage monthly sales tax adjusting entries. Ensure all employee benefit documentation is updated and applied properly to the payroll system.

Vendor and Customer Support

Maintain and communicate key data for all of the company's vendors and customers. Support vendor 1099 filings.

This role reports directly to the company's Financial Controller.
