Morgan Hunter is seeking a Staff Accountant for our client in the KC Metro to join a dedicated accounting team. You will handle high‑volume bank reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and assist with month‑end close while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

The role emphasizes GAAP compliance, strong Excel skills, and the ability to interact with various departments. A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, with CPA a plus, and 1+ year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; CPA is a plus.
• 1+ year of experience in finance and accounting environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Access); Dynamics experience a plus.
• Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations in a standardized format to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
• Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
• Interact with all areas of the company to understand basis for transactions and explain variances to budget.
• Assist in preparation and analysis of monthly vendor related accruals.
• Prepare financial analyses utilizing Excel and other technologies.
• Participate in development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.
• Identify and assist in process improvements (e.g., automation) to shorten the monthly close.
• Address GAAP accounting pronouncements and special projects.

Morgan Hunter has been engaged on a search for a Staff Accountant for our client located in the KC Metro. They currently are looking for a motivated individual to join their organization and work alongside the current accounting staff. The Staff Accountant would be responsible for performing high volume bank reconciliations, journal entries, and assisting with month end close. Excellent leadership and a family friendly environment.

Summary

Ensure integrity of accounting function by recording, verifying and consolidating transactions in journal entries. Interpret and perform standardized account reconciliations. Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.

• Possess and apply broad knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with minimal direct supervision required
