Senior Recruiter - Accounting & Finance at Morgan Hunter

Morgan Hunter is engaged on a search for a Senior Accounting Associate for our client located in Kansas City. The role is permanent and will involve working alongside the current accounting staff.

Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Additional compensation types: Annual Bonus

Summary

Ensure integrity of accounting function by recording, verifying and consolidating transactions in journal entries. Interpret and perform standardized account reconciliations. Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations in a standardized format to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
• Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries.
• Interact with all areas of the company to understand basis for transactions and explain variances to budget.
• Assist in preparation and analysis of monthly vendor related accruals.
• Prepare financial analyses utilizing Excel and other technologies. Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.
• Identify and assist in the implementation of process improvements (e.g., automation) to shorten the monthly close process.
• Keep abreast of GAAP accounting pronouncements.
• Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA a plus.
• 2-5 years of experience in finance and accounting environment; experience with ADP and/or payroll accounting a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Products including Excel and Access.
• Must be a self-starter who is detail‑oriented and proactive with focus on accuracy, in an environment with changing priorities and time constraints.
• Possess and apply broad knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with minimal direct supervision.
• Understanding of GAAP accounting required.
