Job summary

SpectrumCareers in Tysons, VA seeks a junior accountant to assist with month-end close, reconcile accounts, and maintain the general ledger. This role supports AP/AR activities and contributes to monthly and annual reporting.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in accounting or finance, about one year of experience, solid Excel skills, and familiarity with an ERP system. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Approximately 1 year of accounting experience.
• Internship or public accounting experience is a plus.
• Understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with an ERP/accounting system.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely, accurate recording.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, balance sheets, and account reconciliations.
• Support AP/AR activities including invoicing, payments, and collections.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and monthly reporting.
• Research accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation to external auditors.
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting schedules.
• Assist with accounting projects and process improvements.
