Job summary

Continental in Sterling Heights, MI, is seeking a detail-oriented staff accountant to support month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting. The role involves journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet work, with opportunities for collaboration across teams.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of accounting experience, proficiency in accounting software and strong Excel skills, and a proactive, learning mindset to contribute to process improvements and audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency with accounting software and strong Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and organizational skills with a focus on details.
• Motivated to learn new processes, adapt to change and readily accepts coaching and feedback to support both professional development and organizational goals.
• Demonstrates a strong drive and ambition to achieve results.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the month-end close process.
• Support monthly and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Generate ad hoc reports using accounting software as requested.
• Contribute to special projects and process improvements initiatives.
• Respond to information requests and assist with internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with team members inside and outside the department.

Location(s) & Logistics:

• Full-time role in our Sterling Heights office, potential for a day a week remote after onboarding is successfully completed.
