The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. You will manage the AP process, vendor inquiries, reimbursements, reconciliations, and assist with audits and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting required.
  • 3+ years of related accounting experience.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable invoices with correct coding and approvals.
  • Manage AP inbox and supplier inquiries.
  • Review and process employee travel and expense reimbursements.
  • Record operational accounting entries and assist with journal entries.
  • Participate in month-end close and prepare related journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist in audits and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and maintain records.
  • Support SOX compliance and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with vendors and Rigel representatives to resolve discrepancies.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company This position is responsible for processing accounts payable AP invoices operational accounting month end close activities including recording journal entries and performing reconciliations The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process and manage accounts payable ensuring all invoices are coded correctly and approved in accordance with company policies
  • Manage AP inbox set up new suppliers bank verification and supplier inquiries
  • Review and process employee travel and expense T&E reimbursements in accordance with the Companys travel and expense guidelines
  • Assist in the recording of operational accounting entries ensuring all financial transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger
  • Participate in the month end close process including preparing and recording month end journal entries for areas of responsibility cash accrued AP fixed asset etc
  • Responsible for performing balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Assist in audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and support to externalinternal auditors and other professional service providers
  • Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and maintain accurate financial records and control reports
  • Serve as liaison between vendors and Rigel representatives to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Support the annual Form 1099 process
  • Support other regulatory filings including but not limited to property tax submissions and business registration documentation
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and SOX rules for all areas of responsibility
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • BS in Accounting
  • Business with three years of related accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to quickly learn accounting software
  • Strong communication interpersonal and detail & organization skills required
  • Able to prioritize workload to meet deadlines handle multiple tasks & work independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team oriented environment
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality Detail oriented and possess excellent technical analytical organizational and time management skills
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The anticipated salary range for this position is National 94000 to 110000 and Premium Market SFBANYCBoston Area 100000 to 122000 The actual salary offered will depend on several factors including experience qualifications geographic location internal equity and business needs This position is eligible to participate in Rigels annual bonus program and is eligible for equity incentive awards subject to the terms of the applicable plans This position is not commission based Rigel offers eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package including medical dental and vision coverage; life and disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; a 401k plan; paid time off; paid company holidays; and other benefits
