Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger operations and the monthly close process. You will prepare routine journal entries, perform reconciliations, and assist with financial reporting.

The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will help strengthen controls and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post routine and recurring journal entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and other close-related entries.
• Complete monthly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in accordance with established deadlines and procedures.
• Reconcile general ledger balances to supporting sub-ledgers and source-system reports, escalating unusual or unresolved items as appropriate.
• Collaborate with accounting and cross-functional teams to maintain consistent processes, strengthen controls, and support continuous improvement.
