Job summary

CFS in Haines City, FL, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a large homebuilding and construction company with a 100% onsite environment. You will be part of a structured Accounting & Finance team responsible for month-end close, sales accounting, balance sheet activity, expense reporting, and operational accounting.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Homebuilding, construction, or closely related industry accounting background strongly preferred.
• Strong month-end close and general ledger accounting experience.
• Experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Familiarity with sales accounting, expense reporting, invoice processing, and account analysis.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within accounting/ERP systems.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, account analysis, and related reporting
• Prepare and maintain sales journal entries and ensure transactions are accurately recorded
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and research outstanding or unusual items
• Prepare recurring accounting and financial reports for leadership
• Review and process invoices while ensuring proper coding and supporting documentation
• Partner with operational and land teams regarding purchase orders, coding, and accounting-related questions
• Review and support employee expense reporting and related reconciliations
• Assist with company credit card activity, including monitoring transactions and ensuring appropriate documentation
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity and investigate accounting discrepancies
• Support additional accounting projects and reporting needs as assigned
