Job summary

MDM Recruiting is partnering with a client in Madison, WI to hire a Staff Accountant for their Finance team. You will manage month-end close, reconcile GLs, and prepare journal entries while supporting audits and tax work.

The ideal candidate has an accounting degree (AA/BA), solid GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and strong team communication. Landscaping or construction industry exposure is a plus, with a detail-focused, collaborative mindset.

We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join our client's Finance team! If you love clean reconciliations, smooth month-end closes, and being the go-to person your team can count on, we'd love to talk.

What you'll be doing:

• Running month-end close and reconciliations
• Preparing and posting journal entries and GL analyses
• Reconciling bank statements and backing up AP
• Handling sales and use tax filings
• Pitching in on audits and tax prep
• Helping with inventory reconciliation, cash flow, and credit applications
• Managing the company credit card program
• Jumping into the annual budget process and monthly analysis
• Reviewing work and mentoring teammates along the way

What you bring:

• Associate's or Bachelor's in Accounting, Business Admin, or equivalent experience
• Solid GAAP and general ledger know-how
• Advanced Excel skills (bonus points for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central)
• Landscaping or construction experience is a plus
