Job summary

SERVPRO of Metairie is seeking a Staff Accountant with 2-3 years of public accounting experience to join our growing accounting team. The role offers exposure to accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvements across multiple markets.

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager and CFO, you will perform reconciliations, journal entries, and close processes, while supporting intercompany activity and audits as the organization expands.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 2-3 years of public accounting experience.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and accounting fundamentals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Prepare and record journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process through journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Review invoice accruals and respond to accounting questions from office managers.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
  • Review financial data and prepare supporting schedules for management reporting.
  • Prepare payroll-related accounting, including shared payroll allocations and intercompany transactions.
  • Process and reconcile intercompany activity, including cash receipts and payables.
  • Support invoicing activities across multiple business units.
  • Import and reconcile banking activity within QuickBooks Online.
  • Reconcile payroll data between payroll systems and the general ledger.
  • Perform income reconciliations and assist with revenue analysis.
  • Assist with registering new legal entities and maintaining state business registrations.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
  • Provide support during annual financial audits and other compliance projects.
  • Assist with other accounting projects and special assignments as needed.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This position is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of public accounting experience who is looking to transition into an industry role with broad exposure to accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement.

Our organization operates as a multi-market SERVPRO business across five geographic markets, with each market consisting of both Mitigation and Construction divisions. As our organization continues to grow, we are expanding our accounting team with this newly created position to support increasing operational complexity and strengthen our financial processes.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager while supporting the broader accounting team and CFO. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of accounting while contributing to process improvements and supporting a growing organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2-3 years of public accounting experience (preferred audit or advisory background)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar ERP/accounting software.
  • Experience working with multi-entity organizations
  • Familiarity with payroll accounting and intercompany accounting
