Department Summary: The Accounting Department is the focal point for support to its employee owners and is responsible for managing the organization's financial records, payroll, and employee benefit programs. This includes ensuring accurate compensation, administering employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Accounting department supports employees by providing guidance on benefit options and resolving related inquiries and ensuring the integration of compensation and benefit processes.

Position Summary: This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for maintaining accurate financial records and reports. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with accounting policies while contributing to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and posting of journal entries and various accruals.
  • Perform reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate records of capital expenditures and fixed assets.
  • Maintain detailed documentation to support balance sheet accounts in conjunction with the annual budget and direction of the Controller.
  • Assist with establishment of monthly and annual budgets by department and on a consolidated basis.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
  • Maintain and update financial records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Support the preparation of various internal and external financial reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and explain budget variances.
  • Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with AR and AP functions as needed to ensure timely payments to vendors and timely receipt of payments from customers.

Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar software
  • Month-end closing experience

Knowledge of:

  • HR benefits regulations and compliance

Skilled at:

  • Math
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Professional judgement for efficient and accurate completion of tasks
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Organized record keeping skills including retention of both hard copies and digital files
  • Organization and time management with ability to prioritize tasks properly
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office software, especially Word and Excel including advanced functions and formula writing, pivot tables/charts and exporting/importing data
