Job summary

HFIM is seeking a Staff Accountant to handle daily bookkeeping, month-end close, and general ledger entries. You will analyze operating costs, support budgeting, and assist in audits and forecasting. The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to internal controls, and timely financial reporting across entities.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to learn company systems quickly while maintaining high ethical standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping activities for assigned entities.
• Prepare and post general ledger entries for month-end close.
• Assist in internal and external financial audits and strengthen controls.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking as needed.

HFIM is the administrative and sales support division of the Brad Hall family of companies. HFIM supports companies in fuel and lube distribution, propane sales, retail fuel stations, oil field services farming, fuel transportation and other industries. The family of Companies does business in the Western United States and supplies fuel to over 40 states.The Staff Accountant will primarily be focused on:Accounting Operations & Financial ReportingPerforms daily bookkeeping activities for assigned entities.Ensures information is complete and accurate for month-end close to meet Company established deadlines and standards.Prepares and completes general ledger entries.Assists in preparation for month end financial meetings.Analyze and report on operating costs and make improvement recommendations.Financial Planning, Budgeting & ComplianceAssist with internal and external financial audit processes and ensure that financial controls and policies are followed.Assist with forecasting and planning processes as needed.Assist in development and tracking or budgets.Accounts Support & Cash ManagementSupports the daily activities of A/P, A/R, and payroll as needed.Performs daily banking activities as needed.The preferred candidate for the Staff Accountant will have the following:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.One to three years experience in Accounting, Finance or a related field.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to communicate well through verbal and written skills.Strong computer skills and able to learn company systems and processes.Adheres to the company’s values and ethical expectationsAble to effectively multitask and identify areas for improvement.Strong understanding of reporting and financial systems.Strong understanding of excel.Basic knowledge of and ability to utilize AI tools to enhance efficiency.
