About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team supporting operations within the oil & gas, energy, construction, or industrial services industries. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, preferably within an operationally focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
• Perform monthly account and bank reconciliations and research variances
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal reporting
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash application activities as needed
• Assist with project, job cost, revenue, or cost accounting depending on business needs
• Review transactions for accuracy and proper account coding
• Analyze expenses and investigate discrepancies or unusual activity
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Support internal and external audits by providing schedules and documentation
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting
• Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 2-5 years of accounting experience
• Experience in oil & gas, energy, construction, engineering, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Hands-on experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
• Experience with an ERP/accounting system such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, or similar
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
