Job summary

Cash-Wa Distributing, a Performance Food Group company, is seeking a Staff Accountant I to support Fargo operations. You will assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries, conduct reconciliations, and help improve accounting processes within our finance team.

The role offers exposure to financial reporting, variance analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a growing organization. A 2-year degree is provided as a baseline, with opportunities for growth in accounting

• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.

As our business continues to grow, we are investing in our Finance team and adding a Staff Accountant I to support our Fargo operation. Due to continued business growth and the increasing needs of our Finance team, Cash-Wa Distributing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to join our Fargo location. This newly added position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional to gain hands‑on experience in financial reporting, account reconciliations, month‑end close activities, and accounting process improvement while supporting a growing organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role will support the accounting operations of our Fargo division while developing the technical and analytical skills necessary for long‑term career growth within the organization.

What You'll Do

• Assist with month‑end close activities and financial statement preparation
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end analyses
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
• Reconcile processed transactions by verifying entries and comparing system reports to account balances
• Maintain and support general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and purchasing modules
• Organize and maintain accounting records and financial documentation in accordance with company policies
• Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, workflows, and efficiencies
• Support the timely and accurate distribution of financial information and reporting
• Partner with operations and other departments to support accounting and financial objectives
• Participate in audits, special projects, and other assignments as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees at all levels
• Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, accounting clerk, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with ERP or accounting software systems
• Interest in pursuing professional certifications

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing and walking short distances within office areas. Constant sitting for extended periods while performing accounting functions. Occasional bending, twisting, and reaching.
