Job summary

Glacier National Park Conservancy seeks a Staff Accountant to support the Director of Finance in payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and reconciliations. This role helps advance the Conservancy's mission to protect Glacier National Park for future generations.

The position is hybrid, based in Columbia Falls, MT, with most work from home but requires residency in the Flathead Valley to access the office as needed. Strong detail orientation and nonprofit experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, including payroll processing.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
• Strong understanding of day-to-day financial operations.
• Experience in audit preparation and process preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to master new programs quickly.
• Demonstrated resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant supports the Director of Finance in carrying out a variety of accounting and financial operations. This role is primarily responsible for payroll support, accounts receivable and payable, and reconciliations. By contributing to multiple areas of financial administration, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in advancing the Conservancy’s mission to preserve and protect Glacier National Park for future generations.

*This position primarily works from home but must reside in the Flathead Valley to be able to work in the Columbia Falls office on a regular and as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications

(Education and Experience): Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, including payroll processing. Degree in Accounting (or related) required.
