Job summary

Fairmount Park is seeking a Staff Accountant to execute month-end and year-end closings, manage accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries for a gaming and racing operation in Illinois.

You will support the accounting team with budget analysis, consolidate monthly financial statements, prepare footnote information for the 10-Q and 10-K, and assist auditors while helping implement SOX policies and procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing the monthly budget and actual analysis.
• Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
• Utilize the consolidated data to prepare footnote information for the 10Q and 10K.
• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data, including working with external auditors and subsidiary accounting departments.
• Implement accounting policies, including SOX narratives and flowcharts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
