Job description

Staff Accountant | Competitive Compensation, Above Market | Small Team, High Impact! Location: Greater Cincinnati | In-Office | Local Candidates Only

We are seeking a driven early-career accounting professional ready to build a serious foundation in a role with real visibility. The organization is well-established, privately held, and operates with a small, highly capable professional team and a long-term view of how it does business. This role is built for breadth, offering exposure to daily cash and treasury activity, the monthly close, reconciliations, and recurring reporting rather than one narrow function. The organization invests deliberately in technology and process, making this an environment suited to professionals who take pride in accuracy and want to improve how the work gets done. Because the team is lean, the person in this seat will work shoulder to shoulder with senior leadership and see the impact of their contributions immediately. For an accountant early in their career who values ownership, mentorship, and a clear runway to grow, this is an opportunity worth serious consideration. Successful completion of background, drug, and reference checks required!

Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily bank balances and cash positions across multiple legal entities and related accounts
  • Prepare recurring cash position and liquidity reports for review by senior team members
  • Coordinate wires, transfers, and funding requests with banking partners and financial institutions
  • Track short-term lending activity and related interest, balances, and repayment schedules
  • Record and code day-to-day transactions accurately within the general ledger
  • Organize and maintain supporting documentation to keep records audit-ready and complete
  • Perform bank reconciliations and research reconciling items through to resolution
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities under the direction of senior staff
  • Track capital call notices and log distributions tied to private investment activity
  • Coordinate inter-entity funding movements and maintain accurate records of each transfer
  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline recurring accounting and treasury processes
  • Respond to routine inquiries and provide general support to the accounting and investment teams
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 1+ years of accounting or finance experience; strong internship experience welcome
  • CPA designation or in-progress, highly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new accounting and treasury software
  • Curiosity around technology, AI tools, and process improvement
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills across competing priorities
  • Professional discretion in handling highly confidential information
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Direct, daily collaboration with senior leadership on a small, high-impact team
  • Visibility into a sophisticated investment program spanning public and private markets
  • Meaningful ownership of your work rather than a narrow slice of a large department
  • A culture that prioritizes people, relationships, and long-term thinking
  • Clear runway for growth as the team continues to expand
