Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with an investment services firm in Chicago to hire a Staff Accountant. This role supports the accounting leadership team, with a strong focus on accounts payable and general ledger functions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounting experience within the financial services industry, including exposure to broker-dealer operations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare daily financial reports
• Complete bank account reconciliations
• Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules
• Manage accounts payable/receivables cycle (invoice input, check issuance, file maintenance, vendor correspondence, research)
• Process semi-monthly check runs and coordinate employee out-of-pocket expense process
• Balance firm credit card activity
• Complete assigned account reconciliations of certain monthly general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries and analysis of accounts
• Play a supportive role in budgeting, auditing or inquiries, taxes, monthly/quarterly regulatory filings
• Assist with monthly analysis of key income statement and balance sheet items, investigating significant variances
• Assist in coordinating annual audits

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting
• 2+ years of experience
• Financial industry experience a must, specifically broker/dealer
• Must have strong proficiency in Excel
• CPA or Audit experience preferred

Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $80,000, dependent on experience.
