We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Staff Accountant within our accountingteam to help support our bedding business. As a Staff Accountant you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of business units to help drive greater results. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by using analytical and preparation of data for them to use to make decisions. You will participate in the month end closing process, costing, reporting and analysis all while keeping the SOX control framework in mind. The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought.

So, what will you be doing as a Staff Accountant?
  • Prepare and enter journal entries to ensure all revenues and expenses are properly recorded
  • Assist in the preparation of all monthly financial reports, including P&Ls and departmental actual vs. forecast statements
  • Complete costing of inventory
  • Complete month/quarterly analysis and schedules
  • Gather forecasting data and supplemental information
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Provide support to U.S. Spring & Wire
  • Special projects as requested
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • BS in Accounting
  • Accounting/GAAP knowledge.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • 1-3 years Accounting experience
