Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is a power solutions provider delivering engineering, manufacturing and lifecycle services. The Staff Accountant role supports GAAP-compliant financial reporting, handling journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes in our Caldwell, Idaho location.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance with 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong Excel skills, and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience participating in full-cycle month-end close.
• Experience with fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience working with ERP systems and GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare routine and adjusting journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Ensure capitalization of fixed assets and track depreciation.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Prepare daily bank reconciliations and cash activity; escalate reconciling items.
• Maintain the fixed asset subledger and depreciation schedules.
• Record prepaid expenses and monthly prepaid reconciliations.
• Prepare AP check reconciliations and track outstanding checks.
• Prepare routine accrual journal entries and schedules for month-end close.

Job Description

The Staff Accountant supports the accounting and financial reporting function by preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process. This role is responsible for assigned general ledger areas, including fixed assets, prepaids, cash reconciliations, and accruals, to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare routine and adjusting journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Ensure proper capitalization of fixed assets and track depreciation
• Assist with internal and external audits
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Prepare daily bank reconciliations and cash activity; identify and escalate reconciling items.
• Maintain the fixed asset subledger, record asset activity, calculate depreciation, and prepare reconciliations
• Record prepaid expenses, maintain amortization schedules, and prepare monthly prepaid reconciliations
• Prepare AP check reconciliations and track outstanding, voided, and reissued checks
• Prepare routine accrual journal entries and supporting schedules as part of the month-end close

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience participating in full-cycle month-end close
• Experience with fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles
• Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation analysis)
