• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience in roles such as Staff Accountant or Junior Accountant.
• Restaurant/hospitality/retail or multi-unit operations experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies and trends.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activities including journal entries and GL maintenance.
• Support month-end close with analyses, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement reconciliations for accuracy.
• Assist with financial reporting, schedules, and ad hoc analyses.
• Analyze account activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Process cash transactions, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other entries.
• Support accounts payable/receivable and vendor reconciliations as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure policy compliance.

Staff Accountant – Restaurant Industry
Location: Atlanta, GA
Pay: Competitive Base Salary
Hybrid: WFH Monday & Friday; In office Tuesday–Thursday
Our client, a growing and well-established organization in the restaurant industry, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting across the business. This role will be responsible for maintaining general ledger activities, preparing reconciliations, supporting month-end close processes, and partnering with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
The Staff Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team, providing support across financial reporting, account analysis, and accounting processes. This individual will work closely with finance leadership, operations teams, and cross-functional partners to maintain accurate financial records, identify discrepancies, and support the company’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing account analyses, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with financial reporting processes, including preparing schedules, reports, and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Analyze account activity and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions.
• Process and record cash transactions, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other accounting entries.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, including invoice review, payment processing, and account analysis.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Partner with restaurant operations and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting questions and improve processes.
• Assist with audit preparation by gathering financial documentation and supporting schedules.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, or similar role.
• Restaurant, hospitality, retail, or multi-unit operational experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience analyzing financial data and identifying discrepancies or trends.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems/ERP platforms.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
