Responsabilités

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts across multiple entities.
• Assist with royalty and franchise fee calculations, billing, and collections tracking.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Prepare schedules and workpapers for internal reporting and external audits.
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
• Contribute to improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support budget-to-actual variance analysis and ad hoc financial reporting.

Big Blue Swim School is a fast-growing franchise system that aims to show kids they can do anything by unlocking their full potential in the water. With 59 open locations providing children’s swim lessons across the US, plus more than 250 additional franchise locations sold.

The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close, with a particular focus on the unique reporting needs of a multi-entity franchisor. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys structure, accuracy, and problem-solving, and who wants to grow their career in a company scaling quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts across multiple entities
• Assist with royalty and franchise fee calculations, billing, and collections tracking
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
• Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for internal reporting and external audits
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules
• Help maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support budget-to-actual variance analysis and ad hoc financial reporting
• Collaborate with FP&A, AP/AR, and franchise operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data
• Assist with sales tax filings and other compliance-related reporting
• Participate in system implementations or process improvement initiatives as the company scales

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5 years of accounting experience (public accounting, multi-unit, or franchise experience a plus)
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.Sage Intacct), multi-entity accounting software experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, growing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• CPA track or progress toward CPA a plus, but not required
