Job summary

Pratt Industries in Ohio is seeking a dedicated production professional to support corrugation operations and maintenance. You will work with the Corrugator crew to ensure smooth daily production, learn backup equipment, and help maintain quality and safety on the line.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read factory masters and follow instructions.
  • Proficient with tape measure and basic math.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, or graphic instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate issues to the appropriate personnel quickly.
  • Assist Corrugator crew to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain equipment and submit repair requests.
  • Adhere to production schedule and suggest improvements.
  • Learn to operate backup equipment as needed.
  • Count and verify units; ensure correct tagging.
  • Operate conveyor lines and read corrugator lineups.
  • Support training of dry-end personnel.
  • Follow safety policies and keep workspace clean.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate issues or necessary adjustments to the appropriate personnel quickly and clearly.
  • Assist the Corrugator crew as directed by the supervisor to ensure smooth operations.
  • Proactively maintain equipment and submit maintenance work orders for any repairs needed.
  • Adhere to the production schedule, making recommendations to improve cost, quality, and service goals. Report any scheduling issues to the supervisor.
  • Learn to operate backup equipment such as the Slitter Operator and Doublebacker when required.
  • Place protective sheets and tie sheets where necessary.
  • Accurately count and verify unit and inch counts.
  • Ensure all units are properly tagged.
  • Operate corrugator conveyor lines and unitizers efficiently.
  • Understand and read corrugator lineups.
  • Perform tasks like restacking, flipping stacks, and handbanding units as required.
  • Assist in the training of dry-end personnel.
  • Comply with company safety policies and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
Skills & Qualifications
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and follow factory masters and instructions.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in reading a tape measure with accuracy. Ability to perform calculations involving percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or graphic form. Capable of solving problems with clear variables in standardized situations.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of equipment design, product layouts, and production specifications. Ability to meet quality standards.
Certifications
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands for tasks like handling or feeling objects, and reaching with arms.
  • Must occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs and, on rare occasions, up to 100 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • The noise level in the environment is typically loud.
