Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking a 3rd Shift Corrugator Lead to supervise the corrugator department in our Springfield, OH facility. You will lead a production team, ensure quality and output targets are met, and maintain a positive work environment.

The role requires a strong work history in manufacturing and prior corrugated industry experience. Responsibilities include managing materials, training staff, coordinating with supervisors and maintenance, and driving safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior corrugated industry experience is essential.
  • Good work history is required.
  • At least 6 months of experience on the dry end of the corrugator, and/or Doublebacker Operator is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and monitor production to meet or exceed quality, efficiency, and output targets.
  • Communicate standards to the team and ensure adherence.
  • Manage inventories of rollstock and corrugator supplies.
  • Assist with training and cross-training of corrugator staff.
  • Maintain department morale and handle employee matters discreetly.
  • Discuss performance, safety protocols, and continuous improvement with staff.
  • Coordinate with the Corrugator Supervisor and maintenance on repairs and preventive work.
  • Keep supervisors informed of issues that affect performance.
  • Ensure smooth shift changes and adherence to company policies.

3rd SHIFT CORRUGATOR LEAD

Wage Rate is based on experience. This is a full-time position, 3rd Shift: Sunday evening to Friday morning with overtime required when necessary, including some weekends.

As a Corrugator Lead, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality operation of our corrugator department. You'll lead your team, maintain production standards, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is essential.
  • Good work history is required
  • At least 6 months of experience on the dry end of the corrugator, and/or Doublebacker Operator is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and monitor production to consistently meet or exceed established quality, efficiency, and output targets. Effectively communicate these standards to the team.
  • Proactively identify and address quality concerns, reporting issues to the Corrugator Superintendent and Plant Superintendent. Collaborate on defining and implementing quality guidelines, continuously monitoring production runs, and making real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Manage inventories of rollstock and other corrugator supplies to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Assist with training and development of corrugator employees, promoting cross-training to enhance team versatility and skill sets.
  • Help to foster a high-morale department by demonstrating fairness, consistency, and a genuine interest in employee well-being. Maintain strict confidentiality in all employee matters when appropriate.
  • Communicate production standards and with departmental personnel to discuss performance, safety protocols, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate effectively with the Corrugator Supervisor and maintenance team on all repairs and preventive maintenance activities within the department.
  • Keep the Corrugator Supervisor informed of any problems or situations that could impact departmental performance.
  • Ensure seamless communication with necessary supervision to prevent issues during shift changes.
  • Implement, maintain, and champion all company policies and procedures, including our safety program and excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Commit to continuous professional development by actively seeking opportunities such as seminars, technical courses, or relevant college courses to enhance your career skills.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Language Skills

Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

Mathematical Skills

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Technical Skills
  • The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
  • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • Quality standards.
  • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
