Job summary

Sheakley is seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for a 1099 contract in Richland, WA. The role supports a federal construction project with emphasis on safety program leadership, AHAs, APPs, inspections, and compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.

The SSHO will oversee field safety, coordinate with government representatives, and ensure timely corrective actions while maintaining required safety documentation.

Qualifications

• OSHA 510 is required.
• Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of Federal/government construction experience.
• Experience supporting Federal construction safety programs.
• Experience with AHAs and APPs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the onsite Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO).
• Provide daily safety oversight for federal construction activities.
• Maintain a visible field presence in active work areas.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Review and support AHAs and pre-task planning.
• Support and maintain the projects APP.
• Monitor contractors for safety compliance.
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions.
• Exercise stop-work authority when needed.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain federal safety documentation and reports.
• Coordinate with management, government reps, supervision, and subcontractors.
