Job summary

University of California, Merced is seeking a Course and Curriculum Coordinator to determine term offerings, sequence courses, and manage start-of-term processes. You will handle enrollment limits, replace courses, supervise summer scheduling, and ensure accurate final exam periods.

You will also review course proposals, update the General Catalog, and develop solutions to scheduling challenges, working with Divisional Services and department leadership.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of common university-specific computer applications.
  • Analytical reasoning to identify trends and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Determine courses to be offered each term based on major requirements, enrollment trends and faculty availability; set enrollment limits and make replacement recommendations.
  • Oversee summer session scheduling and coordinate with Academic Advising and the Summer Session Office.
  • Support instructors by tracking enrollments, assigning instructors of record, and ensuring final exam periods are accurate.
  • Facilitate the administrative review of new and revised course proposals in the curriculum management system; provide faculty training and support.
  • Manage annual updates of SSHA portions of the UC Merced General Catalog.
  • Develop solutions to classroom space and scheduling problems; advise on curricular matters and recommended actions for new courses and programs.
  • Conduct annual assessment of processes for efficiency and maintain enrollment trend documentation.

Job description

Compensation Range: The University of California, Merced will pay the successful candidate a salary in the range of $59,200 to $61,200 per year.

Work Setting: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, with the first 6-month probation period requiring 100% onsite attendance.

About the Job

The Course and Curriculum Coordinator works independently in consultation with Divisional Services, Department Leadership, and the SSHA Manager of Instructional Services to determine courses offered each term, sequence them appropriately, and manage start‑of‑term processes. The coordinator handles enrollment limits, replaces courses, oversees summer session scheduling, ensures accurate final exam periods, reviews new/revised course proposals, updates the General Catalog, and develops solutions to scheduling challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Determine courses to be offered each term based on department major requirements, enrollment trends, course restrictions and faculty availability; set enrollment limits and make replacement recommendations.
  • Oversee the SSHA summer session scheduling process and coordinate with Academic Advising and the Summer Session Office.
  • Support instructors for current and upcoming semesters by tracking enrollments, assigning instructors of record, ensuring final exam periods are accurate, and monitoring mid‑semester and final grade submissions.
  • Facilitate the administrative review of new and revised course proposals in the curriculum management system and provide faculty training and support.
  • Manage the annual update of SSHA portions of the UC Merced General Catalog.
  • Develop solutions to classroom space and scheduling problems, advising on curricular matters and recommended actions for new courses and programs.
  • Conduct an annual assessment of processes for efficiency and maintain internal documentation of enrollment trends for future planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 3 years of directly related, progressively responsible experience in a student services job function or 7 years of experience in education, training, and counseling (an advanced degree in Student Affairs or Counseling may substitute one year of required experience).
  • Thorough knowledge of common university‑specific computer applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of department, organization, and university policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Deep knowledge of department and school general and major course and degree requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with and gain trust from senior management, faculty, and students.
  • Proven ability in problem identification and analytical reasoning to identify trends.
  • Proven ability to find solutions to conflicting situations.
  • Background check required.
