Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Recess Supervisor for the elementary grades to supervise and engage students during daily recess. The role supports a safe, inclusive outdoor activity period from 11:15am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday during the school year.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma and experience with young children, with the ability to resolve minor conflicts and monitor behavior on the playground and in indoor recess settings. Start date 8/26/2026.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Experience working with young children.
• Sensitive to the needs of young children.

Responsibilities

• Supervising students (Grade 1 – Grade 5) for safety and appropriate behavior on the playground and/or in a classroom setting for indoor recess
• Helping students resolve minor conflicts with their peers
• Observing student behavior
• Consistently circulating the playground area (or classroom) to observe student interaction

Job description

Position: Recess Supervisor

Hours: 15 hours per week. Schedule is 11:15am-2pm, Monday through Friday when school

is in session for students. It is a 180-day work schedule each school year.

Start Date: 8/26/2026

Salary and Benefits

In accordance with the paraprofessional bargaining unit contract. Starting pay rate is $17.43/hr
