Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a part-time Student Recess Supervisor to oversee safety and supervise students during recess inside or outside the building.

The role runs from 11:25 A.M. to 1:25 P.M. and offers compensation of $15.75 per hour. Candidates should be able to work with grades K-5, maintain a positive, patient demeanor, and communicate clearly. A high school diploma and ability to pass a background check are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with grades K-5 is desirable.
• Ability to maintain tact, patience, kindness and a positive attitude.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to establish and maintain friendly relationships with students.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to supervise individuals or groups of students.
• Ability to work in environments that can be physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform demanding tasks.
• Ability to occasionally move or lift students with disabilities and restrain if necessary.
• Must complete a successful background check.

Responsibilities

• Be aware of and implement all site playground rules and regulations.
• Supervise and monitor students during assigned playground supervision periods.
• Apply appropriate disciplinary procedures in line with the school discipline plan.
• Be aware of and enforce school safety standards at all times.
• Report unsafe playground conditions, including equipment, to an administrator immediately.
• Alert an administrator to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Maintain satisfactory attendance.

The primary duty of the Student Recess Supervisor is to provide supervision and ensure safety of students during recess time held inside or outside of the building.

Compensation

$15.75/hour

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform physically demanding requirements of the job
• Ability to occasionally perform physical activities which may include: moving and/or lifting of students with physical disabilities; moving, lifting, and/or physically restraining of students with emotional and/or behavioral disabilities;
• Ability to perform physical activities which may include frequent standing, walking, bending, and/or lifting;
• A successful background check is required
