Job summary

Borusan Pipe U.S., Inc. in Baytown, TX is seeking a skilled Beveling Operator to support piping production. The role focuses on bevel machine setup during size changeovers and ensuring bevels meet quality standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic reading/writing/arithmetic, and willingness to work OT. Experience with automated equipment and SRM processes is a plus; must follow PPE rules and 5S, and coordinate with supervisors and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Beveling machine setup during size changeovers.
• Ensure bevels conform to quality requirements on the work order.
• Ensure that no pipe with inside scarf goes to the next operation.
• Communicate product details and unfinished duties when changing operators.
• Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.
• Serve as back-up for Hydrotester or Pre-Visual Check Operator when necessary.
• Maintain machinery by observing operations and correcting malfunctions.
• Clean and service equipment during maintenance/downtime.
• Communicate issues to Supervisor and Engineer.
• Coordinate with station operators to ensure quality product.
• Reject non-conforming products and readjust equipment.

Job description

Working conditions are the same as the conditions provided in the pipe manufacturing industry. Working environment temperature is in parallel with weather conditions. It requires working in dusty, noisy and greasy environments. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1.Qualifications:

1.1.A High School diploma or GED equivalent.

1.2.Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.3.Experience with operating automated equipment preferred.

1.4.Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and hand-held measurement devices.

1.5.Knowledge of SRM manufacturing processes, procedures for at least one year is a plus.

1.6.Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time and weekends when necessary.

2.Responsibilities:

2.1.Responsible for beveling machine set-up during size changeovers.

2.2.Ensure the bevels conform to the quality requirement on the work order.

2.3.Ensure that no pipe with inside scarf goes to the next operation.

2.4.Communicating the product details and unfinished duties whenever there is a change of operator.

2.5.Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.

2.6.This position serves as a back-up for the Hydrotester, Pre-Visual Check Operator when necessary.

2.7.Maintain a good machinery condition by observing machine operations; detecting machinery malfunctions and make required corrections.

2.8.Responsible to clean and service all the equipment during scheduled maintenance and downtime.

2.9.Communicate to Supervisor and Engineer when necessary.

2.10.Communicating and working together with the work station operators

2.11.Reject non-conforming products and readjust equipment to correct problems.

2.12.Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

2.13.Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

2.14.Communicating to Supervisor and Engineer any problems with material and equipment.

3.Activities:

3.1.Inspecting Bevel ends in accordance to ASTM and or Standard Operating Procedure

3.2.Employee must report to his immediate supervisor and Engineer for briefing on daily tasks.

3.3.Provide and assist with maintenance on the equipment he/she is operating.

3.4.This position may require operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.

3.5.Keeping the working environment clean and tidy

3.6.Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift

3.7.Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.

3.8.Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.

3.9.Assist in changeovers and maintenance

3.10.Other duties as assigned.

4.1. This position has the authority to stop work if he/she deems it necessary for reason of possible equipment damage.
