Job summary

Borusan Pipe in Baytown, TX seeks a Mill Helper to assist in pipe mill operations, help set up equipment, and support operators to ensure safe, compliant, and continuous production. You will follow plant policies and participate in safety protocols during your shift.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of pipe mill experience. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in hot/cold conditions, wear PPE, and be prepared for possible overtime and weekend

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of pipe mill experience.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Experience with operating automated equipment preferred.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and tools.
• Knowledge of pipe mill processes and welding operation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with potential overtime and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn pipe mill operations through cross training and assist as required.
• Assist operators in setting up equipment.
• Serve as a back-up for Pipe Mill Operators when needed.
• Follow PPE policies and safety rules.
• Adhere to the 5S workplace organization procedures.
• Report to supervisor for daily briefing on tasks.
• Provide maintenance support and keep equipment clean and well-maintained.
• Inspect equipment and materials to identify issues and defects.
• Operate forklift and/or overhead crane as needed.
• Assist in changeovers and mill stoppages.

Job description

The Mill Helper shall assist in the pipe production by handling various functions of the pipe mill and ensure its continuous operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. Qualifications:

• 1.1. A High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1.2. Minimum of one year of experience in a Pipe Mill.
• 1.3. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• 1.4. Experience with operating automated equipment preferred.
• 1.5. Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
• 1.6. Knowledge of the manufacturing mill processes, procedures, and welding operation.
• 1.7. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

2. Responsibilities:

• 2.1. Learn various functions of a pipe mill operations by cross training and assist when required.
• 2.2. Help the operators on setting up the equipment.
• 2.3. Serve as a back-up for the Pipe Mill Operators when required.
• 2.4. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
• 2.5. Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

3. Activities:

• 3.1. Employee must report to his immediate supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
• 3.2. Provide and assist with good maintenance on the equipment he is operating.
• 3.3. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
• 3.4. Inspecting equipment or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• 3.5. This position may require operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.
• 3.6. Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift
• 3.7. Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
• 3.8. Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
• 3.9. Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
• 3.10. Other duties as assigned.
