Job summary

Jefferson Lab is seeking a researcher to advance SRF cavity and linac technology. The role involves simulating RF structures, analyzing thermal and mechanical behavior, and contributing to surface processing, assembly, and testing of SRF cavities.

We value a Ph.D. in physics with an engineering background and experience with CST/COMSOL, ANSYS, or FLUKA. Strong communication and collaboration across engineering groups are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in physics with an engineering background is required.
  • 2+ years SRF cavity design is preferred.
  • Experience with accelerator components is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Use simulation codes to model RF structures for electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical design.
  • Contribute to development of novel SRF cavity and linac technology.
  • Perform multi-physics analysis of SRF cavity structures.
  • Document results in tech notes and papers; present at meetings and conferences.
