Job summary

Jefferson Lab in southeastern Virginia seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer to supervise a team working on high-complexity cryogenic projects, including a sub-atmospheric 2 Kelvin system. You will oversee long-range planning, budgeting, and progress tracking, guiding design and installation activities across multiple projects.

The role requires 15+ years of experience with a preference for cryogenics, and a Bachelor's in Engineering.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience required.
• 4+ years of cryogenics experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the work of other mechanical engineers across complex cryogenic projects.
• Support long-range planning, budgeting, and progress tracking for lab initiatives.
• Provide design support for cryogenic systems and transfer knowledge to junior engineers.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to proposals and external communications.
