Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Technical Leader on the Intersight Team to guide the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud platforms across multi-region deployments in Chicago.

You will lead architecture, mentor engineers, collaborate with product and security teams, and apply strong programming skills to automate and improve data infrastructure and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related experience, or Master’s with 8+ years, or PhD with 5 years.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and production-ready solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and IaC using Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, networking, security, and CI/CD.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability using SRE principles.
• Collaborate with customers, development, product management, and security teams to create secure, scalable solutions and improve operational efficiency through automation.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analyses, and contribute to postmortems and performance optimization.
• Lead the architectural vision and shape the team’s technical strategy and roadmap.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand use cases and translate them into actionable insights.
• Apply programming skills to integrate software and systems engineering and build data platform capabilities.
• Develop strategic roadmaps and infrastructure to deploy software components at enterprise scale.
