Apple is seeking a senior Observability SRE Manager in Seattle to lead reliability, scalability, and performance of Apple's observability platform (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting). Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management leading SRE or observability teams.
• Experience hiring and mentoring engineers.
• Deep understanding of observability: metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, error budgets.
• Strong systems background across full stack and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Kubernetes multi-tenant production systems.
• Proficiency in Python; Go/Java/Scala valued.
• Experience applying AI/ML tooling to improve SRE operations.
• Leadership with psychological safety and cross-functional collaboration.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, availability, and performance of observability platform.
• Lead staging and production environments for the observability stack.
• Ensure health monitoring across Apple ecosystem for all apps and infra.
• Define roadmap for observability with SRE, engineering, product teams.
• Establish SRE practices: SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, disaster recovery.
• Drive incident response and post-incident reviews to reduce toil.
• Champion automation via tooling, self-service, and APIs.
• Manage on-call rotations and ensure sustainable coverage.
• Standardize monitoring methods across embedded SREs and services.
• Partner with architecture to influence reliable design; balance debt vs features.
