Leidos is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Data Engineer to join the SMIT program supporting Navy networks. You will design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, build data models, and ensure data quality across hybrid environments while aligning with security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. Degree or higher with 4–8 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related technical fields.
• U.S. citizen with DoD Secret clearance and IAT Level II certification.
• Onsite work with ability to be located at Navy bases (San Diego, Hampton Roads, or Jacksonville).
• Hands-on experience building, operating, or supporting enterprise data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, or equivalent solutions.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python) for data extraction, transformation, validation, automation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, source-to-target mapping, data quality, metadata, and lifecycle management.
• Experience integrating data from relational databases, APIs, flat files, logs, and other sources.
• Knowledge of cloud and on-premises infrastructure, security, and data movement in hybrid environments.
• Ability to diagnose production data issues, analyze logs, and document root causes and corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently and in high-tempo environments with strong technical documentation skills.
• Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, and Ansible; experience with AI-enabled tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines collecting data from enterprise systems, APIs, logs, and databases.
• Build and optimize data models, schemas, views, and curated data sets for analytics and operational reporting.
• Develop data-processing solutions using SQL, Python, and standard release practices with version control and peer reviews.
• Integrate cloud and on-prem data platforms supporting secure data movement, performance, and retention.
• Implement automated data-quality checks, monitoring, and alerting to identify incomplete or failed data flows.
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with analysts, data owners, and stakeholders to define data requirements and mappings.
• Apply data governance, security, privacy, and access controls across the data lifecycle in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
• Support platform upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning with minimal production impact.
• Produce architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, lineage docs, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in Agile planning, reviews, incidents, and after-hours support as needed.
