Responsibilities

  • Directs and actively participates in daily inventory management operations including reviewing and approving requisitions, stock transfers, shortages and expediting to meet requirements.
  • Helps develop programs, tools, policies and procedures for inventory management and control.
  • Assists in implementing standard procedures and maintaining tools to meet project needs.
  • Develops inventory control programs to ensure timely delivery within budget.
  • Assists in implementing systems to support inventory management.
  • Identifies supply-demand issues and develops solutions for management.
  • Assigns tasks, reviews work and provides direction to staff to meet timelines.
  • Develops and presents inventory reports to management.
  • Advises on strategic material planning and represents the unit with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Participates in planning, attraction, selection, retention and development of staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties and ensures compliance with laws and operating procedures.

Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity to fill the Inventory Operations Supervisor position in the GA-ASI Stockroom 101 Warehouse located in Poway, California. The position is responsible for leading eight direct reports providing inventory management of 45,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) or line items of inventory in a 79,000 square foot warehouse. SR101 is the largest government property warehouse in GA-ASI, supporting 19 international and domestic customers, supporting our customers’ fielded GA-ASI MQ-9 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems across the globe. SR101 also serves as the primary focal point for processing all government property disposal across the Company. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory of finished goods for sales warehouse and distribution centers to meet sales and distribution demand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs and actively participates in the daily operations of inventory management by prioritizing work activities which include reviewing, approving and evaluating purchase requisitions, transfer of stock, shortages and expedites to ensure project and production requirements are met.
  • Participates in developing programs, tools, policies and procedures regarding inventory management, control, monitoring, and practices.
  • Assists in implementing and monitoring standard procedures; participates in the development, recommendation and maintenance of tools, policies and procedures to meet project and production requirements.
  • May develop and assist in implementing inventory control programs to ensure project(s) and production requirements are met on time and within budget.
  • Assists in the installation and implementation of systems used to support inventory management.
  • Identifies issues and conflicts in supply and demand and develops and recommends innovative solutions to management.
  • Assigns tasks, reviews work and provides direction to staff while ensuring processes are met within established timelines.
  • Develops and presents reports to management for inventory monitoring and control.
  • Consults management on strategic material planning by applying knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Represents the organizational unit as a primary contact with internal and external representatives; makes internal and external presentations and provides consultation as needed.
  • Participates in the planning, attraction, selection, retention and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required talent.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field along with six or more years of related experience in inventory planning and control. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate extensive understanding of inventory planning and control standards, practices, concepts, and principles, along with a thorough and detailed knowledge of computer-based manufacturing systems and MRP.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex matters of diverse scope and nature
    • excellent organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit
    • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of internal employees and external customers and to accurately document and report information
    • the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects
    • the ability to represent the company on projects
  • The ability to work extended hours and travel may be required.
  • The ideal candidate will have a thorough and detailed knowledge of Asset Smart and government property management.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary

Salary range: 64,730 - 115,858
