Under general direction with limited oversight, this position serves as a central point of contact between Manufacturing, Profit & Loss, Operations Program Management, and Design Engineering. The role is responsible for managing and facilitating a range of activities, including engineering issue resolution, drawing implementation timelines, part and assembly cut-in schedules, and hardware availability for production. These activities support both in-process and planned aircraft in the Poway and Flight Operations facilities. The position will also provide detailed daily status on issues and aircraft on the floor to drive part availability and resolve issues. The position is responsible for applying innovative approaches to resolving unusual or complex engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and reviewed largely at completion. The position initiates the planning of engineering projects and develops innovative designs or modifications in order to meet project goals. It independently performs difficult/complex engineering work with instructions as to the general expected results. The position documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, makes technical presentations, and may represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects. It provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
