Job summary

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Material Control Coordinator to join our team in Adelanto, California. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing manual and clerical duties involved in coordinating incoming materials through inspection, stockroom and production. Following established practices and procedures, performs a combination of tasks which may include receiving, loading and unloading, counting, weighing, and conveying materials and recording information and tracking, logging and verifying orders from numerous sources and departments. Coordinates outbound shipment of products. Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications and invoices. Requisitions stock to fill incoming orders or issues supplies from stock, and prepares stock use reports.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates receipt of incoming materials. Checks materials received against vendor shipping documents and purchase orders for accuracy.
  • Analyzes and monitors inventory and work orders.
  • Ensures traceability of material and/or parts.
  • Coordinates with various departments to support department materials requirements.
  • Monitors and restocks inventory levels housed on shop floor to ensure appropriate levels.
  • Updates daily movement of parts providing information to appropriate personnel regarding back order of critical scheduled material.
  • Delivers materials as required for designated production areas and engineering projects.
  • Reviews material requisitions issued to the stockroom to ensure material is properly allocated and storage will not impact production.
  • Conducts physical inventory counts, and prepares lists of obsolete and excess quantities of stock components based on stock and locations usage reports. Identifies, reports, and investigates inventory shortages, overages or discrepancies on the shop floor.
  • Examines items received. Verifies conformance to quality clauses and receiving procedures.
  • Reviews and monitors inventory and work order shortages, communicating requirements to planning.
  • Coordinates with quality assurance and purchasing on the return of defective parts to vendors for repair or replacement.
  • Transfers vendor shipper paperwork upon receipt of goods or after appropriate approval of parts. Ensures damages or excess goods are processed through quality assurance and/or materials supervisor.
  • Coordinates with safety on the processing and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of experience in production/material control and/or shipping/receiving and inventory control environment. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience.
  • Position requires a complete understanding of stock room and inventory control practices and practical experience with the problems and situations ordinarily encountered in a large stock room environment.
  • Must have an understanding of applicable policies and procedures as well as relevant regulations. Must be able to establish priorities, respond to routine and non-routine issues or situations that require some interpretation and tact in handling.
  • Must have experience dealing with all levels of employees and customers and with material handling equipment.
  • Must have proficiency in using office and specialized inventory/stock control software to track and record inventory levels and prepare requested reports and information, and able to work additional hours as required.
  • Highly Desired:
    • Three or more years of shipping receiving experience
    • SAP experience
    • Forklift experience loading/ unloading heavy freight

Job Type: Full-Time Hourly
Salary range: 38,230 - 56,838
