Job summary

FedEx is seeking an interview-position automotive fleet technician to maintain the company’s vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and documentation to keep assets in peak condition.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, an automotive service certification, a valid G license, and at least three years of fleet experience. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and basic welding is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician certification/license required.
• Must possess a valid G license and have a good driving record.
• Three years of fleet experience required.
• Fleet maintenance experience is an asset.
• Electronic troubleshooting skills required.
• Knowledge of diagnostic testing equipment for gasoline, diesel and hydraulic powered equipment.
• Basic welding knowledge and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift heavy vehicle components up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to lift above 70 lbs with mechanical assistance.
• MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) basic.
• Inter/intranet applications basic.
• Preferred: Diagnostic software including JPRO, Allison DOC Fleets, Cummins Insite, Ford IDS w/VCM-2, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, Mercedes.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, quality maintenance for FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and documentation.
• Utilize diagnostic software and tools for troubleshooting and repair work.
• Ensure safety procedures and welding basics as needed.
• Maintain toolsets and complete lifting tasks with or without assistance.

Provides timely, quality, cost effective maintenance for Federal Express vehicle fleet and ground support equipment which requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and documentation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician certification/license

For Ramp positions, successful placement in the position is contingent on the applicant passing the Transport Canada, RCMP, and CSIS assessment, which is based on five (5) years verifiable background information. Must own a complete set of automotive or truck hand tools including metric sizes and storage cabinets for same
