Responsibilities

  • Analyzes commercial lines accounts to make sound decisions based on risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls.
  • Adheres to individual authority levels.
  • Prices business according to underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Balance effective pricing and risk selection with producer relationships.
  • Communicates with agency personnel on underwriting issues including declinations, cancellations, exposure concerns and loss control survey results.
  • Present new and renewal proposals to agency personnel.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service internally and externally.
  • Meet with agency personnel to develop and maintain positive relationships.
  • Work with business development to hold agencies accountable for flow, hit ratio, and new business.
  • Serve as a resource to others in resolving complex problems and issues.
  • May act as subject matter expert for referrals and internal training.
  • Educate agency staff on company products, services and underwriting philosophy.
  • Establish positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders through communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with marketing on agency production goals.

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Property and Casualty Underwriter in Dallas, Texas or Phoenix, AZ. This senior-level underwriting role supports key business strategies by driving profitable growth through expert underwriting and strategic agency partnerships. With a high level of technical expertise, the Senior Underwriter also mentors and develops less experienced underwriters while collaborating with business development to achieve long-term success.

Job Responsibilities

  • May also act as subject matter expert for referrals and internal training.
  • Educating the agency staff on company products, services and underwriting philosophy.
  • Establishes positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders through communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborates with their marketing representative on agency production goals.
Qualifications/Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • The knowledge and skill levels acquired through undergraduate studies especially in the areas of business administration & finance.
  • 5+ years of commercial insurance experience required in addition to Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, rates, rules, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes required.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines underwriting.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills which requires the ability to qualify opportunities and close deals.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Employees will accrue 0.0846 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 22 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
