Job Description - Sr. Underwriter/AVP, Environmental (2500001K)

Job Objectives:

Manage and grow a portfolio of environmental casualty insurance products through strategic relationships with wholesaler and retailer brokers. Use your business acumen and underwriting skills to develop pricing and negotiate terms to build a profitable book of business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Underwrite new and renewal environmental casualty products, including general liability, site pollution, contractor’s pollution, contractor’s professional, and commercial auto, supporting and unsupported excess, following Allied World Environmental Underwriting Guidelines.
2. Develop broker relationships to generate new business opportunities and manage existing accounts.
3. Prepare quotes, binders, referrals, and maintain underwriting documentation in line with company guidelines.
4. Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers, insureds, and internal teams to ensure high customer satisfaction.
5. Conduct marketing calls, account stewardship meetings, and participate in local professional organizations to promote Allied World products and stay updated on market developments.
6. Engage in professional development through training, education, and seminars.

Qualifications:

Compensation: The annual base pay range is $105,000 – 150,000, based on market analysis and considering factors like experience, skills, education, and role scope. This salary is part of a comprehensive total rewards package that may include incentives.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 1-3 years of underwriting experience in environmental liability insurance, including site pollution and contractor’s pollution policies, working with retail and wholesale brokers.
• Practical knowledge of environmental liability products and services.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Analytical, computer, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage workload efficiently.
• CPCU or ARM designation preferred.
• Approximately 25% travel required.
