Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager to oversee TOM operations across Albuquerque, NM; El Paso, TX; and Tucson, AZ. You will lead a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers, driving budget execution, strategic planning, and continuous improvement to meet customer expectations.

The role requires 5+ years of direct management experience, Lean expertise, and strong skills in staffing lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing staffing lifecycles including hiring, promotions and terminations.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and delivers the operational budget for TOM, including safety, productivity and labor planning.
  • Provides strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, 12 months) including labor forecasting.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Networks with leaders across the network to share process improvements.
  • Sets objectives and measures for safety, quality, productivity and customer experience.
  • Mentors and develops leaders and staff; participates in recruiting and promotion decisions.
  • Collaborates with HR, Finance, Safety, IT and other leaders to secure resources for initiatives.

This role is available in Albuquerque, NM /El Paso, TX / Tucson, AZ

Our Senior Transportation Managers play a crucial role in exceeding expectations and providing a superb customer experience; critical to Amazon’s success, which is built on a foundation of customer obsession, and innovation.

This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution.

The Senior Transportation Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operations of the TOM teams within a specific node and may include responsibilities for stand-alone sites as well. You will lead a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers to achieve operational excellence through coaching and mentoring the team; driving employee engagement, and building leadership bench strength within the TOM organization.

Multiple roles are expected across the network with flexibility for location based on candidates current location and relocation preferences.

Strategic Responsibilities & Deliverables
  • Owns and delivers the operational budget for functional area, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for TOM
  • Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, forecasting, and peak season planning
  • Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives; works on strategic projects that have total building and network-wide impact. Effectively leverages the Operations and Area Managers to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the building.
  • Networks with other leaders across the network to solicit and share process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Establishes objectives and metrics for safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience
  • Sets clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area Managers. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable
  • Mentors and develops leaders and staff
  • Participates in recruiting to identify and evaluate associates and internal/external candidates for promotion and hire.
  • Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Safety, IT and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of direct management experience
  • Experience in performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations
  • Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions, or experience with project management
  • Experience in the areas of management and leadership development, organization development, learning and development, group facilitation, training and training design, or equivalent business experience
  • Experience leading large teams/operations, including a salaried/hourly workforce, in a rapidly changing customer service, manufacturing, production or distribution environment
  • Experience in organizational leadership and development or talent management, with experience in a senior leadership role

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
