Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Transportation Operations Manager to oversee Transportation Operations for a defined region, driving process improvements and meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The role involves leading a team of Area Managers, ensuring safety, quality, and customer experience across sites, and implementing best practices while forecasting and planning for growth. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of employee and performance management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Transportation Area Managers across sites to streamline logistics within each operation.
  • Responsible for overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of your region.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
  • Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needs.
  • Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning.
  • Ability to develop and share best practices across shifts and network.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays.

The Transportation Operations Manager has complete responsibility for Transportation Operations at a number of sites within a pre-defined region of the country. This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to drive process improvements and the ability to keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers that are located within the individual sites in an effort to streamline logistics within each individual operation
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of your region
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals
  • Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needs
  • Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning
  • Ability to develop and share best practices across the shifts and network
  • Travel up to 50% may be required
  • Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
  • Experience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employees
  • Experience scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
