Job summary

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Telecommunications Specialist to support the Air National Guard on-site, augmenting CS personnel with Tier 2 capabilities to manage legacy NIPR/SIPR networks.

This is a temporary, 9–12 month position located on base, requiring active DoD clearance and strong field experience. The role encompasses fielding and maintaining network equipment, patching, and incident response while coordinating with BIM engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in telecommunications systems, network operations, or related field.
• Security+ CE certification required.
• A+ CE certification required.
• DoD Secret security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site Tier 2 support augmenting Air National Guard CS personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure.
• Perform shared Tier 2 duties including fielding network equipment, troubleshooting, configuring devices, monitoring performance, and collecting data.
• Respond to EITSM tickets and service calls from Client System Administrators and Communications Focal Point personnel.
• Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless APs, and fiber optics.
• Troubleshoot Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) activities.
• Execute security patching per vendor guidance and maintain configuration management.
• Operate under base CS command and coordinate with BIM Tier 3/4 engineering support.
• Support change management per TO 00-33A-1100 and local SOPs.
• Participate in configuration control board meetings.
• Be available on-call 24/7 for contingency operations and crisis response as mission essential personnel.
• Work closely with CS Network Control Center personnel.

SMS is hiring a Sr. Telecommunications Specialist to support our Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) contract on site at the Air National Guard location. This position provides on-site Tier 2 support augmenting Air National Guard Communications Squadron (CS) personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

• Operates under tactical command and control of base CS while coordinating with BIM Vendor Tier 3/4 engineering support

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in telecommunications systems, network operations, or related field


• CompTIA Security +CE


• CompTIA A +CE certifications or equivalent required
