Duties and Responsibilities

This position plays a key role in advancing classroom and event technology through hands‑on project work and system improvements. The role contributes to the planning, implementation, and enhancement of audiovisual (AV) and instructional technology solutions that support the university's teaching and learning mission. Key responsibilities include leading or supporting technology upgrade projects, coordinating equipment installations, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to modernize learning spaces. The role involves managing project timelines and documentation, evaluating emerging technologies, and contributing to design and testing processes for new AV systems. In addition to project‑based initiatives, the role ensures smooth daily operations by maintaining classroom technology standards, tracking IT assets, and assisting with faculty training and user adoption. They work closely with faculty, IT teams, and vendors to ensure technology projects meet instructional needs, improve user experience, and align with institutional goals.

General Responsibilities
  • Delivers a positive user experience by providing clear communication, timely support, and proactive solutions to technical issues.
  • Supports IT service management processes by triaging support requests, prioritizing incidents, and following up on resolutions to improve service delivery
  • Maintains area documentation, updates appropriate knowledge articles, and improves processes.
  • Manages inventory by tracking, maintaining, and supporting IT assets.
  • Engages in professional development by staying current on technology and assisting with training.
Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and assist with maintaining audiovisual (AV) equipment in classrooms, lecture halls, and event spaces to ensure reliable operation.
  • Provide real‑time technical assistance for faculty, staff, and event organizers, resolving AV issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Regularly inspect and test classroom AV systems, including projectors, microphones, speakers, displays, and control systems, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Lead classroom technology refresh projects, including replacing and upgrading AV equipment, ensuring compatibility with university standards.
  • Work with faculty, IT teams, and vendors to implement new AV solutions and provide training on system usage and best practices.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Digital Media, Computer Science, Education, or related field with at least of five years comparable work experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; or appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Familiarity with a variety of technical concepts, practices, and procedures in both computer and media industries.
  • Familiarity of using and troubleshooting operating systems (Windows, Macintosh), along with systems such as Crestron, Q‑SYS, Zoom, Panopto, and Office 365.
  • Experience with visual communications involving media streaming and video conferencing.
  • Experience with audio systems such as Shure, Sennheiser, Biamp, QSC and general audio technologies (microphones, consoles, speakers).
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

None required, although any type of certification demonstrating expertise in project management, computers, multimedia, or control systems (specifically Crestron and QSYS) is a plus.

Computer Skills
  • Individuals must be familiar with a variety of technical concepts, practices, and procedures in both the computer and media industries.
  • They should also have a sound understanding of operating systems (Windows and Mac), presentation software, and specialized tools such as lecture capture, interactive whiteboards, document cameras, student response systems, and a variety of mobile devices.
  • Some experience with Brightspace (or other LMS), Zoom, Panopto, and MS Teams is highly desired.
