Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive structure and coordination for large-scale engineering initiatives powering core service layers and data infrastructure. You will own end-to-end programs spanning Product, Engineering, Data Science and Legal, making data-driven decisions and managing complex dependencies for global reliability and security.

Rate of pay is $180,000 to $220,000 per year. Eligible for Uber's bonus program and other compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 7+ years of program management experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional technical initiatives across Product, Engineering and Legal.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, data infrastructure, and security frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and drive cross-team technical initiatives across HR and IT Engineering.
  • Own end-to-end lifecycle of programs, from requirements to rollout.
  • Coordinate updates to leadership and manage risks and dependencies.
  • Interface with vendors and internal teams to estimate work and allocate resources.
  • Lead post-launch support and derive insights for product improvements.

About the role and team

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will drive structure and coordination for large-scale, complex engineering initiatives that power the bedrock of the platform—from core service layers to data infrastructure that supports millions of real-time transactions. This role is about navigating the reality of modernizing critical products and security frameworks while the business moves at high velocity.

You will be a strategic operator and cross-functional influencer, owning the end-to-end lifecycle of technical programs that span Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Legal. You will make data-driven decisions on prioritization, manage complex dependencies, and impact global reliability and data privacy. We are looking for a professional who can solve architectural puzzles and elevate technical program management standards across a global organization.

Rate of Pay: $180,000 to $220,000 per Year

What you’ll do
  • Partner with multiple teams within Uber HR and IT Engineering to structure and drive a wide range of sophisticated cross-team technical initiatives.
  • Responsible for the problem space, work closely with diverse business and engineering leads to conceptualize solutions, organize/align multiple engineering teams for delivery, and drive execution.
  • Manage Tech implementation and rollouts from requirements gathering stage to sunset.
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors, internal engineering teams to estimate work efforts, define breakthroughs and manage resources.
  • Track Engineering progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status and issues to upper management and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and coordinate updates to leadership across the organization, advise external teams on the feasibility of enhancements, and develop an end‑to‑end rollout plan for new products and enhancements, and project‑manage launches.
  • Manage products post‑launch support and surface and advocate key insights from the business to inform product improvements.
  • May telecommute.
Basic Qualifications

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a program management‑related occupation.

Position requires:

  • System design, integration, and infrastructure;
  • Agile, Scrum, or any development methodologies;
  • APIs, middleware, ETL tools and data migration strategies;
  • HCM Domain knowledge and compliance frameworks;
  • Tools/software/processes: visio, lucid charts, UML diagrams, data model, data flow, sequence and architecture diagrams, wireframes, ERDs;
  • SQL, BI, Oracle and web services/technologies;
  • End‑to‑end integration and data migration testing, validating SFTP connectivity, security protocols, web services, file transfers, data mapping accuracy, and ETL process integrity using QA and test management tools;
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), driving cross‑functional teams through requirements analysis, system design, software development, testing, release management, change control, and data management to deliver robust end‑to‑end technology solutions.
